First thing first, key items you'll need to prepare for brewing your first homemade cup of a pour over coffee. Listed below are the tools and ingredients you will need to create a pour-over coffee. This type of coffee is my personal favorite!
The Preparation:
2 1/2 cups of water
Swan-necked Kettle
Gram Scale
20 to 35 grams of coffee beans
Coffee Grinder
Thermocouple
Ceramic coffee dripper
Paper filter
---------------------------------------------------------
The works: You'll want to have a full 10oz cup of coffee so pour 20oz of water into the kettle or whichever heating unit you use to heart the water. Turn the heat on high! Begin weighing out your coffee beans. Typically you will you 20 grams of coffee beans. Pour the measured beans into the coffee grinder and grind until it become soft and gritty.
After the water is boiling, pour it into the swan-necked kettle. (The swan-neck kettle helps keep your pour accurate and maintain your consistency.) Place a flitter in the ceramic coffee dripper then pour your coffee grounds into it. Place your coffee cup under the dripper, then start to slowing pour the heated water over the coffee grounds.
The idea is to pour the water in a circular movement over the grounds in order for the grounds to evenly absorb the water and begin to drip into your cup, producing coffee! Continue this motion until all the heated water has been poured into the ceramic coffee dripper.
You've just created your first cup of homemade pour-over coffee! You have encountered a new skill. Enjoy your deliciously brewed coffee!
