How do you make French Press Coffee? The preparation: Gram scale, coffee beans, coffee grinder, thermocouple, French press, chopstick or wooden spoon & of course water. Step 1: However much coffee you wish to drink, double the amount of water to begin. Place the amounted water in the kettle to heat. Step 2: Weigh out the coffee, depending on the amount, for each 12 oz use 20 grams of coffee. Then grind the coffee, as always the grind should be gritty not too powdery feeling. Step 3: Get the French press ready. Once the water is heated, pour some of the heated water into the French press. Then after the French press is warm, pour the heated water into your cup from the French press. Step 4: Put the ground coffee in the press pot then thinly pour water over the coffee grounds. Begin to lightly stir the coffee with the chopsticks. Step 5: Put the stem on the pot with the filter about half of an inch above the coffee grounds. Let the coffee sit for a few minutes to begin to stem. Step 6: Use a spoon to push the grounds down to the bottom of the coffee pot.
